IDN magazine asked for a cover with a sports theme for an issue about sports graphics. This illustration didn't make it as the cover, but instead was produced as a 20"x26" poster insert. A collaboration between my son Cal (9 years old ) and me. Cal was into sports and did a lot of drawings showing gameplay, team logos and lists of team names. I scanned a bunch of these drawings and composed the artwork as if I was making an abstract painting. The idea of showing the world of sports graphics through Cal's artwork was a great contrast to how sports graphics are traditionally presented and represents one of the "hidden" ways the sports world is digested.
